A recently unearthed web review of The Tri-State Tornado

My first academic article, "Tornadoes in Wisconsin: Two Case Histories," is now online. Features interviews I conducted with survivors of the Barneveld tornado of June 8, 1984.

Self-Serving Capitalism in Action: Buy The Tri-State Tornado and Soul of the Sky

Below is the cover of Soul of the Sky: Exploring the Human Side of Weather (Mt. Washington Observatory Press, 1999). It's a slightly different kind of weather book in which quite a few authors, myself included, explore the ways in which weather has shaped their lives. In "Return to Irving," I describe a visit to a Kansas ghost town that was decimated by two tornadoes on May 30, 1879. I won't review the book myself, but an interesting commentary can be found here.
